I got the idea for this photoset while listening to Bette Midler's beautiful song,"The Rose" one
day. I starting singing to myself, "Some say love . . . it is a taco" instead "rose" and it got
me thinking how similar both are. A rose starts out as a tiny bud and blossoms into a gorgeous
flower with many petals. When you are picking roses from the wild you have to watch out for
thorns, just like when you are making tacos you have to be careful not to let too many
ingredients fall out of the shell. Or when you are biting into a taco you must be careful not to
get hot sauce and sour cream on your shirt. Sometimes I also imagine that inside my chest I have
a taco for a heart. It is warm and throbbing. The hot ground beef is throbbing inside the
shell, its earnest passion soothed by the coolness of the lettuce and tomato. In the end I guess
I think that tacos are LOVE, and in these photos I try to mix them with another
expression of love, the flower, and I hope you all enjoy.
